Ancient Activation: The Hafren & Gwy Druid Walk
About the Event
Two great rivers shape this land. Hafren, the Severn, wide and tidal, pulling at the edge of the Vale. Gwy, the Wye, winding deep through its wooded gorge. Between them lies a landscape our ancestors knew as sacred, its stones, springs and high places holding stories far older than any map.
On this day of pilgrimage we gather at an ancient site and walk home to Chepstow on foot, the way people have always walked when they wanted to remember. Led by Druid and beekeeper Chris Park, alongside local guides and folklorists Scott Edwards and Caspar Reeves, we follow old ways through woodland and along stretches of Offa’s Dyke, pausing at hidden places most walkers pass without ever knowing they were there.
Along the way the land speaks through myth, folklore and history, and through ceremony. At a sacred site known to few, Chris will lead a Druid ritual, bringing through the wisdom of a living tradition that has never truly left these hills.
Coming in the days after Samhain (Halloween), as the year turns into its dark half and the veil between worlds is said to grow thin, this walk is part of a wider remembering, a reawakening of our bond with the land beneath our feet and the ancestors who walked it before us. Bring an open heart, good boots, and a willingness to be surprised.
